A family of foxes surprised Shawn Davis when they decided to camp at his backyard. The adorable foxes first came to his backyard in Illinois at the end of May.
Shawn Davis told The Koala, “We first noticed the family one morning in the end of May, and were very surprised since we live in a normal residential neighborhood. There was a mom, a dad, and five kits in the family.”
Also adding, “They liked to practice hunting with the mom and would play fight with each other a lot. At one point, we put a mini trampoline out and they liked to pounce on each other! There was a lot of curled up napping in the daytime as well.”
The Davis family was hesitant to approach the animals at first. However, the family of foxes soon became accustomed to the humans coming near them. Davis said, “As soon as we started coming outside though, they became used to us pretty quickly and would play while we were sitting out there.”
“At first they ignored us a bit but then they became pretty curious. The kits would try to sneak around from the sides to come visit. Even though they were very cute, we realized they are wild animals and kept our distance. I didn’t want a fox to play bite and shake my leg particularly.”
Shawn Davis posted about his encounter on social media. He also uploaded a video compilation of the family foxes just hanging around his backyard and playing with each other.
However, as time passed by, the foxes began to grow up and moved on. They do not come around to visit the backyard anymore. But people around the neighborhood have claimed to see a few foxes nearby.
Shawn Davis further added, “They [foxes] really seemed to like our yard though and felt safe in it so I wouldn’t be surprised if we have more little visitors in the future!”
