Pitoe, the round cat, was about to be put down by her owner before being saved by a vet. The chonky kitten was brought to a veterinarian with the plan to have her euthanized.
The 4-year-old kitten was adopted by Marie’s grandparents after she was brought to her parents at the clinic.
Marie told The Koala, “One day a client came in with a litter of kittens that was a ‘bad nest’ a lot of them had issues, one of them was Pitoe. This is when we found out she has scoliosis. (She was a crooked lil’ kitten.) Because of the severity and this person realizing he won’t be able to sell this kitten, his plan was to have her euthanized.”
Pitoe was saved by Marie’s mother who believed that she would grow up to be fine. Marie added, “My mom realized that this kitten would probably grow to be quite calm and won’t be able to do a lot of things, including jumping. She asked if she could give Pitoe to my grandparents and the owner gladly accepted. Match made in heaven!”
However, the family was also worried that Pitoe might have some issues as well, and were concerned about “how long she was going to live.”
Pitoe looks like she is very overweight and her body is shorter than usual cats. To everyone’s surprise, the British Shorthair has been doing very well despite her problems. Marie also said, “We all adore that lil’ cat. She does have a lot of mobility issues, for example she can’t jump at all. (Because of her spine and crooked hind legs, of which one isn’t that functional.) She also has a distinct waddle, but can run, play, climb and most importantly: doesn’t have any pain.”
But the cat’s family still has to help make things easy for her. Marie further added, “The only thing we really have to do for her that we don’t have to do for the other cats, is make certain things easily accessible. She has a little step next to my bed, so she can climb on. She also gets very regular check ups, so we can assure her condition doesn’t get any worse and if it does, we can be aware of it and do whatever necessary to make her comfortable.”
Pitoe, the round cat, loves getting attention according to her owner.
